A complete audit, with a focus
on staff and teacher well-being
The organization
A tuition-free, K-8 independent school fully relies on fundraising to serve students living in a neighborhood with few high-quality school options.

Goal
The school wanted to know what they were doing well to support fundraising efforts. Leadership also wanted to identify where they could improve, particularly for their classroom teachers and non-instructional staff. Staff were passionate and often worked long hours – leadership worried about burn-out.
The audit
Fig administered the adolescent and adult Whole-School Learning Needs Scales, conducted student and staff focus groups, and reviewed school materials.
Outcomes
Following a report for staff and teachers, leadership created a staff-led Well-Being Committee. The Committee met monthly to design and implement initiatives to improve staff and teacher well-being. The school implemented a second round of adolescent and adult surveys the following year to gather information for further improvement efforts.
