VitalVoices

Helping students connect to themselves and others through self-awareness and healthy dialogue practices.
Cultivating Connection
VitalVoices builds self-awareness and communication skills with youth in early adolescence (grades 4-8). Students first learn how to notice their own thoughts, feelings, and body sensations. Then, using our "Listening Toolkit," students practice listening deeply and speaking kindly. The curriculum guides students in building an awareness of their capabilities, as well as those of their community.

Teachers lead students through simple, adaptable 15-minute lessons one to three times a week. The program includes one-on-one teacher support in accommodating diverse student abilities and needs.

After only nine modules, students in two 5th classrooms reported a measurably greater sense of their shared ability to get along, with each other and with those different from themselves.
